What are City Vancouver Academy High School’s admissions requirements?

City Vancouver Academy High School targets students with leadership potential and cultural variety. A minimum average of 75% from the three most recent years of schooling is anticipated. Students will take an English placement exam upon arrival to assess their English level and, consequently, their class placement. Students who have previously graduated from high school in their native country may apply. City Vancouver Academy High School admits students in grades 9 through 12 who are at least 13 years old.

When should I apply to City Vancouver Academy High School and how long will it take to know if I am accepted?

City Vancouver Academy High School welcomes applications for semesters beginning in September, January, May and July. As capacity in our programmes is limited, applications should be received as early as possible and no later than four months prior to each term. Within two weeks following the completion of the admissions process, our Admissions Staff will notify candidates of the school's decision. If they are offered a spot at City Vancouver Academy High School, they will be required to pay the tuition prior to enrol as a new student.

Is City Vancouver Academy High School accredited??

CVA is an independent high school accredited by the Ministry of Education of British Columbia. Students receive their high school graduation certificate that is recognized by all North American Universities and Colleges.

The British Columbia Ministry of Education has accredited City Vancouver Academy High School as an independent high school with BC Register Number: 03896889. All of our graduated students will receive an official high school diploma that is acknowledged by all universities and colleges around the world and they apply to any English-speaking university for post-secondary school study.

What is the class size?

We limit the number of students in each classroom to provide a quality learning environment. We aim for a student-to-teacher ratio of no more than 15:1. This facilitates education since lecturers may focus on each student specifically.

 What is the advantage of City Vancouver Academy High School compared to public and independent schools?

Our guidance counsellors work with each student to create a personalized strategy for achieving their high school and college goals and completing the application processes for those institutions. Each student's self-assurance will grow as they become more involved in every facet of their education and development. The Admissions Office works one-on-one with each applicant. All of our pupils are successful because we keep parents and guardians updated on their development regularly.

Will the school provide university application support?

Preparation for life beyond high school is a primary focus of our curriculum. For the purpose of making the process of applying to college or university easier, we provide each student with individualized, in-depth help and recommendations. When they leave our programme, our students have the foundational knowledge and abilities to continue their education at the next level. Our seasoned faculty members work with freshmen to map out their post-high school goals from the moment they enrol. Students get help with their college applications throughout the academic year. Throughout the year, we will also have college and university officials come to our campus to meet individually with our graduating seniors and answer any questions they may have.

Does City Vancouver Academy High School offer homestay services and airport pick-ups?

City Vancouver Academy High School will work with students and parents to find suitable homestays. Our homestay host families provide full-service, high-quality homestay programs with airport pickup services available upon request. How will my non-English-speaking child manage in an English-language school?

At City Vancouver Academy High School we offer full support in every way we can for our students to succeed. Our teachers understand the needs of and are experienced working with kids who are new to the English-speaking environment. ELL course offerings are available to ease and help their transition into this world, as well as in-class extra teacher support and after-school program supervised by full B,C certified teachers. This complimentary service is available Monday to Friday starting from 4:00 PM for students who wanted to use this quiet time to study, complete their homework, and get extra help.
